Public Enemies

Ok, really? Could you not just look at that face all day long?

Anyhoo, I know nothing of John Dillinger, no do I usually enjoy gangster films, but I am woman enough to admit that I went to see Johnny Depp. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. He is at his most handsomest in this film.

Enough with the drooling on with the review. Again, let me reiterate I know nothing of the historical aspects of this film and I don't care about them either. Plain and simple this is a love story.

There is a lot of shooting and blood (most of the blood shots are gratuitous in my opinion) and that will be enough to make the guys not realize a good old fashioned love story is unfolding right in front of their eyes.

Oscar winner Marion Cotillard is the love interest but meh this is all about Depp. Although, I do have to give a shout out to Christian Bale for his performance as the unerving FBI agent Melvin Purvis, I didn't even recognize him and had to wait for the credits to role to find out who it was.

Girls sell seeing this movie to your guy as a gangster flick.
Guys sell seeing this movie to your girl as a love story.

Everyone will be happy.

Introduction

I have a guilty pleasure. I love going to the movies. I love sitting in the quiet and escaping into another world, I love the popcorn and the soda (mmmmm the large refillable Diet Coke mmmmmmm) and the feeling of nothing else in the world mattering for 2 hours.

AMC Entertainment Inc.Image via Wikipedia

My favorite movie theater is the AMC 16 here in Burbank. AMC has the best amenities (did I mention the refillable diet coke?), the seats are comfy and the armrest goes up so I can put up my aching knee, and they have the best frequent flier program. For every ticket you buy you receive 2 points. I joined their program about 10 years ago and have accumulated over 700 points so far. DO the math, that works out to 350 tickets. Of course I used to buy multiple tickets to movies when the kids were younger so it doesn't quite work out to 350 movies for just me. By the way this is NOT a sponsored post (although I am open, hint hint).

In the Screening Room of Adrienne's House I will give you my opinions on movies that I see. Some will be movies I have paid for and some will be free screenings. ALL OF MY OPINIONS WILL BE HONEST! Free movies do not sway me (free Diet Coke on the otherhand.....I kid!).

You will not find however any reviews for movies that scare the shit out of me. I scare easily and sill even close my eyes and ears during their previews. So if that is your interest (Hi Megan!), sorry.

I will try to keep a running tab on movies coming up and will look for a widget that can help you find showtimes and what not in your own areas, but I am not that techy. If anyone has suggestions or offers of help I am always open. If you would like to submit a review of your own (I would love someone else to do the scary ones!) please email me and let me know.

In the infamous words of Siskel and Ebert "The Balcony is open".
